• First-run setup wizard – A 5-step assistant walks you through everything important on first launch: installing the helper, choosing a DNS forwarder, creating your first host, and sharing setup instructions for other devices – so you're up and running in just a few minutes. Reopen it anytime.
• Use NAMO on every device – A new "Use on other devices" window shows your Mac's IP in large, copyable text, plus sharing via AirDrop, Mail, or Messages, including step-by-step guides for iPhone, iPad, Mac, Android, Windows, and Linux.
• Secure DNS scoping instead of a global redirect – NAMO now routes only its own hostnames through targeted resolver rules (/etc/resolver) instead of taking over your Mac's entire DNS. That means your internet connection stays stable even while NAMO is stopped – one less thing to worry about.
• .test instead of .local as the default – New hosts now default to the collision-free .test suffix instead of .local (reserved for Bonjour and MAMP PRO) – sparing you hard-to-track-down naming conflicts. Existing .local hosts keep working as before.
• DNS server starts at system startup – In "At system startup" mode, the server now comes up reliably right after your Mac starts, with no need to open NAMO.
• "Follow your Mac's DNS server" – Forwarding can now automatically follow your Mac's current DNS, switching along with you when you change networks. Fixed forwarders (Cloudflare, Google, custom) remain selectable as before.
• Cleaner toolbar – Trimmed down to Settings and a power split-button (start/stop plus status popover). The "NAMO Hosts" item is gone, since resolving on your own Mac is now the default.
• Status popover – Shows BIND status with uptime, service status, listening ports, and current forwarders. Includes a quick-test field that compares how NAMO and your Mac resolve a domain side by side.
• Color-coded status – An icon on each host entry shows green (everything running), orange (partially running), or gray (stopped).
• Menu bar tray icon – NAMO status and quick actions right from the menu bar, no main window required.
• Tools menu – Reload hosts, view/clear the BIND log, flush the DNS cache. New: optional logging of all DNS queries.
• Edit multiple hosts at once – Multi-select with Cmd-click or Shift-click, with bulk actions (enable, disable, change IP, delete) also available from the right-click menu.
• Open host in browser – Directly from the host dialog or via right-click in the sidebar. MAMP PRO hosts open using the original URL reported via Bonjour, including the correct scheme and port.
• Clear duplicate rules – When the same hostname is defined twice, only the first entry counts; any further ones are marked red and are not passed on to BIND.
• Sidebar search field – Quickly filter by hostname or IP.
• Wildcard hostnames – An entry like *.myapp.test resolves all subdomains to one IP.
• Cleaner sidebar – Sections (NAMO, MAMP PRO, etc/hosts) are visible at a glance, plus a minus button for quick deletion.
• MAMP PRO hosts grouped by computer – When MAMP PRO hosts come from multiple computers on the network, the sidebar now shows a subheading for each computer with its hosts underneath.
• Faster app launch – NAMO is ready to go immediately, since resource-intensive operations now run in the background – no more waiting before you can get started.
• Up-to-date BIND server – Upgraded from BIND 9.16 to 9.20.22 (April 2026 ESV patch), closing several security vulnerabilities and adding support for modern encryption.

• More robust reload – If BIND is busy, NAMO now automatically retries applying host changes, so your changes get through reliably instead of failing with "Reload failed."
