NAMO

Local websites. Any device. Same name.

Local web projects are typically only accessible on your Mac. NAMO changes that: access your projects from any device on your network — using the same host name.

Test on your phone

Building a website on your Mac and want to test it on your phone? Just enter the same host name — NAMO makes sure it resolves.

Company tools on your LAN

Wiki, CRM, bug tracker — with NAMO, you can reach internal applications on your office network using simple names. Even when the internet goes down.

Ready for MAMP PRO

Using MAMP PRO? NAMO automatically detects your hosts and makes them available by name to every device on your network — with minimal setup.

What does NAMO actually do?

Every computer on your network has an IP address — a string of numbers like 192.168.178.14. To access a local website from another device, you'd have to remember that number — and it can change at any time. NAMO translates the host name — say, "my-project.local" — into your computer's current IP address for every device that uses NAMO as its DNS server. Automatically, in real time. The result: type a name in your browser and you're on your site — whether you're on a Mac, tablet, or phone.

Setup

Install NAMO and create host names

Install NAMO on your Mac and create the host names you need — or let NAMO import them automatically from MAMP PRO.

Set the DNS server

Enter the NAMO DNS server's IP address in the network settings of the device you want to test on.

Enter the host name — done

Open the browser on your device and type the host name. NAMO routes the request to your Mac — and the page loads.

Works with any device

Any device with a browser and network access can use NAMO — iPhone, Android phone, iPad, Windows laptop, or another Mac. Just enter the NAMO DNS server's IP address once in your device's network settings, and every host name works instantly from that point on.

Your data stays with you

NAMO operates entirely within your local network. No data is sent to external servers, no accounts are needed, and no ports are opened to the outside. Your local web projects stay private — and remain accessible even if your internet connection goes down.
