Getting started

Install serrv and open your first local website over HTTPS. The complete handbook is built into the app — choose Help → serrv Help.

Install

Step by step

Download serrv and double-click the archive to unzip it.
Move serrv.app into your Applications folder and open it from there. Don't run it straight from the Downloads folder.
Open serrv from Applications. serrv is notarized by Apple; if macOS asks the first time, choose Open.

Requirements

macOS 15 (Sequoia) or later.
Static sites only (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, images). For PHP, Python or a database, use MAMP PRO.

First launch

A short one-time setup runs automatically. You will be asked for your password once so serrv can set up local web addresses and trust its own local certificate — that's what lets https://<name>.local/ open with a secure lock icon and no warnings, including in Firefox.

Add a site

Click the + button and give your site a name.
Choose the folder that holds your website files.
serrv makes it available at https://<name>.local/ — open the link in any browser on this Mac.

The first time a preview thumbnail loads, macOS may ask for Local Network permission. Allow it so serrv can show previews; your browser works either way.
