Requirements

• MAMP PRO is installed and set up.

Step-by-Step Guide

1. Enable the MCP Server in MAMP PRO

• Open MAMP PRO
• Enable the MCP Server feature in the General Tab of your site
• MAMP PRO provides the connection details Claude Desktop needs to connect.

2. Start working on your sites

Just describe what you want in plain language, for example:

• "Look into the client-xyz site and show me what's in the active theme's functions.php."
• "List all published posts in the client-xyz database."
• "Run wp plugin list for the client-xyz site."

Claude uses the MCP Server to read the relevant files, query the database, or run the WP-CLI command – and reports back based on the real result.

3. Iterate directly

• Ask Claude to make changes (e.g. edit a template file, update an option in the database).
• Review the proposed change, then let it apply.
